This process allows the holder of a firearm user’s licence of which the firearm is damaged beyond repair to obtain a replacement firearm of similar type and the corresponding user’s licence.

 
 Application Process
    1. - Applicant visits Firearm Dealer, collects and completes both the Request for Replacement of Defective Firearm Form and the Application for Firearm licences, Certificates and Permits.  Applicant can also download form from the FLA’s website  

    1. - Applicant submits both forms, Firearm, Licence Card and Licence Fee Certificate to the Firearm Dealer.
  1. Firearm Dealer’s Armourer or Private Armourer examines Firearm and if firearm is found to be:
    1.    - Defective beyond economic repair  
    2.    - Or If repaired, it's efficiency cannot be guaranteed
    3. - The armourer completes, signs and stamps the relevant section of the Form and submits same with a letter outlining the details of the defect to the FLA.
  1. - Firearm is placed in irrevocable safekeeping by the Firearm Dealer for collection by the Firearm Licensing Authority.
  2. - Firearm Licensing Authority processes request.

 

 Replacement of Non-Defective Firearm

This process allows the holder of a firearm user’s licence of which the firearm is not damaged to obtain a replacement firearm of similar type and the corresponding user’s licence. For applicants who have had a previous application with the FLA or has completed recertification with FLA then the following will obtain:

  1. - Completed Application Form
  2. - Two (2) passport photos (solid background). One must be certified by a JP and the stamp must bear the registration number of JP.
  3. - Licence fee receipt(s) - Licence Fee Receipt(s) is to be obtained at the Firearm Licensing Authority. Debit Card, Credit Card and cash transactions are accepted at the Firearm Licensing Authority.
  4. - MorphorapID or fingerprint receipt (if the date of the last fingerprint date exceeds five years if MorphorapID System is unavailable)

 

However, if applicant has never had a previous application with the FLA then all documents that are required for a new application MUST be submitted, and the firearm being replaced must be stated on the application form.

Please note applicant will not be required to come in for an interview; therefore no date would be issued.

 
 Application Process
  1. - Applicant visits the FLA and collects and completes the Application for Firearm licences, Certificates and Permits or downloads the form from the FLA website
  2. - Applicant submits documents indicated above.
  3. - Firearm Licensing Authority processes request.
  4. - Applicant is advised of the outcome of the request. 

 Disposal

This process allows the holder of a firearm licence/permit to relinquish his/her legal authority to carry and or use a specific firearm.

 

 Application Process

  1. - Applicant visits Firearm Dealer and collects the Firearm Disposal Permit Form. Applicant can also download form from the FLA’’s Website.
  2. - Applicant completes relevant sections of form i.e. Sections A, B and C.
  3. - Applicant submits form, Firearm, Licence card and Ammunition to the Firearm Dealer.
  4. - Firearm and Ammunition is placed in safekeeping by the Dealer for collection by the Firearm Licensing Authority.
  5. - Firearm Licensing Authority processes request.
