 REGULAR AMENDMENT

The request from a security company to remove or add firearm(s) from/to an existing permit. Applications for Regular Amendments should be accompanied by documents listed below:

  1. - Completed Application Form for the Amendment of Firearm User’s (Employee’s) Certificate.
  2. - Letter from Employer authorizing the application and clearly indicating either removal or addition of firearm(s).
  3. - Copy of the existing Firearm User’s (Employee’s) Certificate.
  4. - Proof of Renewal Licence Fee Certificate or copy of renewal receipts which MUST have the requisite stamp from the Firearm Licensing Authority’s Auditing Department.
  5. - A valid copy of the guard’s Individual Private Security Regulation Authority (PSRA) Card [Must reflect ARMED GUARD]
  6. - A valid copy of the Company’s PSRA certificate.
  7. - Two (2) recent Passport photographs certified by a Justice of the Peace. NB: stamp should include the J.P’s registration number.
  8. - Proof of Name (Copy of Birth Certificate or Passport)
  9. - Copy of Taxpayer Registration Number (TRN)

 TRANSFER AMENDMENT

The request from a security company for a security guard’s permit to be transferred from one company to another. Applications for Transfer Amendments should be accompanied by documents listed below:  in Group 1 with the exception of C & Group 2.

  1. - Completed Application Form for the Amendment of Firearm User’s (Employee’s) Certificate.
  2. - Letter from Employer authorizing the application and clearly indicating either removal or addition of firearm(s).
  3. - Proof of Renewal Licence Fee Certificate or copy of renewal receipts which MUST have the requisite stamp from the Firearm Licensing Authority’s Auditing Department.
  4. - A valid copy of the guard’s Individual Private Security Regulation Authority (PSRA) Card [Must reflect ARMED GUARD]
  5. - A valid copy of the Company’s PSRA certificate.
  6. - Two (2) recent Passport photographs certified by a Justice of the Peace. NB: stamp should include the J.P’s registration number.
  7. - Proof of Name (Copy of Birth Certificate or Passport)
  8. - Copy of Taxpayer Registration Number (TRN)
  9. - A copy of the permit from the previous company. If the guard cannot locate the permit he/she MUST put his/her declaration in writing.
  10. - Two recommendations from any of the following categories of persons; Minister of Religion, Justice of the Peace, School Principal, Police Officer (not below the Rank of Deputy Superintendent), Attorney- at-law, Medical Doctor, Resident Magistrate, Member of the JDF (Major and above). Recommendations are to be addressed to the FLA and must not be older than six (6) months.
  11. - Copy of the transfer registration receipt from PSRA or copy of registration with the new company from PSRA
  12. - Proof of last employment in any of the following forms:
  • - A Copy of last pay slip from previous company.
  • - A recommendation from previous Employer
  • - A detailed letter from P.S.R.A. stating the guard’s previous and present employment status [request for letter from PSRA is to be made by Security Company and letters will be submitted to the FLA by the PSRA].

 

 PLEASE NOTE

    1. 1. Competence letters are valid for three (3) months, all processing on file will be placed on hold.

    1. 2. If the time between the expiration of the guard’s last renewal and the date of the application is within twelve (12) months then, the Transfer Amendment can be facilitated with the relevant documents.

    1. 3. If the time between the expiration of the guard’s last renewal and the date of the application for Regular /Transfer Amendment exceeds twelve (12) months but is less than twenty-four (24) months, the guard will be fingerprinted and the relevant security clearances requested. Fingerprint receipt can be obtained at any Tax Administration Jamaica office.

    1. 4. If the time between the expiration of the guards last renewal and the date of the application for Regular and Transfer Amendment is over twenty-four (24) months then, the company will be required to submit an application for a New Firearm User’s (Employee’s) Certificate.

  1. 5. No PHOTOGRAPH, TRN or PROOF OF NAME is required for Security Guards conducting a Regular or Transfer amendment that was issued an FLA permit within the last five (5) years.
